On 1-8 June 2018, MoNRE organizes Sea and Islands Week and celebrates the World Ocean Day 2018 in Quang Ninh province with the theme "Clean up the sea” as a call to take responsibility for the blue ocean.
This year's theme is to encourage solutions to solve plastic waste pollution and prevent plastic waste at sea for a better ocean for a better future.
In order to successfully organize the Sea and Islands Week and to respond to the World Ocean Day in 2018, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, from April to June 2018, the whole country will launch the Vietnam Sea and Islands Week activities responding to World Ocean Day 2018.
Many activities such as hanging posters, posters, slogans to call for the protection of sea and islands.Other activities are being carried out such as strengthening the control of the collection, transportation, treatment of waste on the coastal areas and islands, encouraging the construction of environmental protection works for the benefit of the communities such as planting trees, preventing erosion and salinity intrusion, implementing environmental criteria in new rural construction, supporting people to adapt to climate change.
In addition, depending on the actual conditions, the localities will organize activities with the direct participation of the community. The localities will implement activities such as clean up the environment, waste collection, waste disposal, encouraging recycling, re-production and recycling of plastic waste; organizing conferences, seminars and conferences on the management, exploitation and use of natural resources and environmental protection of the sea and islands in the direction of sustainable and unified management for socio-economic development and national defense and security protection.
