WESTPAC Advisory Group Meeting 2018 will take place on 26-28 September 2018, Manila, the Philippines, upon the kind offer of the Marine Science Institute of the University of the Philippines (UPMSI).

The Group meeting 2018 will serve as a mid-term review of activities that were carried out since the 11th WESTPAC Intergovernmental Session (WESTPAC-XI, 21-23 April 2017, Qingdao, China), and also consider, among others, how WESTPAC and its Member States engages in the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030).

The WESTPAC Advisory Group, initiated in 2008, composed of the Officers of the Sub-Commission and additional experts in relevant disciplines of marine science, has the responsibility to provide scientific and technical advice on the development, planning and implementation of the activities of the Sub-Commission. The Group conduct its meeting on a regular basis over the intersessional period, with a view to examining the progress, challenges and lessons learned from the programme implementation in the past; and to explore partnership building opportunities and future research directions for the whole Sub-Commission.
